Ordinary.

Ordinary.

The last few months have been silent here on ChocolateCoveredChopstix-- not because we don't care about the blog, certainly not because we don't have the content, but in some ways I guess the need to prioritize this blog or any blog in particular eluded us for a while. In the last few months our life has been nothing but "ordinary" -- we bought a house and puppy, started new commutes, bought furniture, complained about our commutes, tried to get on a schedule, and are slowly getting back to what we call normalcy... but the recent events in the press and my own personal life have reminded that our life is far from "ordinary." Our little bubble of interracial love and success is something we work at daily and perhaps something to be shared because it is different, it is unique, it is special.

There is nothing normal today about being able to afford a house or even a german shepherd. There is nothing normal about being a asian male black female couple (we don't have even have both our families' support) and there is nothing normal about our path to date -- it's just normal for us even though it may be odd for others, beautiful for others, visceral for others...

Either way it is for this reason that we're going to keep writing and sharing -- to show it's possible. Because even when times are trying and things get tough knowing something is attainable is half the battle. If this blog makes a difference in even one day of one person's life then it's worth the effort...
